Dome Wood                                                                                ...  Artist Statement

Art, in its infinite quest to express its essence, emerges from a dimension that embodies a particular freedom — the freedom of not-being and not-knowing.

This emergence, leads the artist to ask: can we arrive at a universal ontology that unites humanity through a metaphysical dimension that is non-exclusive by nature?

This question drives Dome Wood, who feels it is now more urgent than ever to seek an answer. The need for a ‘better ontology’ — free from the confines of both theism and materialism—has taken him on a journey that explores existential meaning through picture thinking, Bildsprache.

This path has led him to what he describes as a sense of coming home in his artistic practice: European Abstractionism.
